James Vincent Cox, baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Sunday, June 15, 2014. Born on Sept. 23, 1930 in Breckenridge, TX.

Beloved husband for 62 years of Nell Cox (nee Toles). Loving father of B. Thomas (Cindi), Beverly and the late Deborah Ann Cox. Cherished grandfather of Michael J. (Ilene) Zarvos, Piper (Curtis) Wright and Kellen Cox. Son of the late Wyndell and Irene Cox. Brother of Stephen (Maxine) Cox and the late Wynilou Cavilia. Our dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Mr. Cox proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean War. He attended Angelo State University and was a graduate of the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. Jim worked for Western Electric in Dallas, TX and was transferred to the St. Louis area in 1967, retiring in December of 1989 from AT&T. He was active in Ballwin as an Alderman for 10 years, was on the Planning and Zoning Committee and was a board member for the Ballwin Athletic Assoc. Jim and Nell enjoyed traveling to watch their children and grandchildren play sports. After retirement he enjoyed playing golf with his dear friends Frank Byars and the late Ed Montgomery. He was a member of Holy Infant Catholic Church for over 47 years. His wit, humor and great faith will be missed by all who knew him.

Services: Funeral Mass at Holy Infant Catholic Church, Ballwin, Thursday, 11:00 a.m. Inurnment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke's Hospital Cancer Research or Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States. Memorial visitation at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Wednesday 4 - 8 p.m. Friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.
