One less light in the world - in memory of Jaime Lopez Martinez "Pollito"

Our light Jaime left too soon, he was only 28. We want to thank MHAUS for giving us the opportunity to raise funds to further MH research and awareness, we wish for nobody to ever know the pain of losing a loved one to MH.

Those of us lucky to have walked a (too short) part of life with Jaime will always remember his warm smile, ability to make everyone feel loved and seen and his outstanding balance (especially at desks/ kitchen chairs). He stood out for his unwavering willingness to help and fight for what he thought was right (his courage was three times his size).

No challenge was too great for Jaime, who went out of his way to try new sports (avid horse rider of Wallas, windsurfer, skier and cyclist among others), and expand his horizons to reach his goals (moving to Australia and Switzerland, finishing school in a new language), even in creative ways (ingenious methods of recalling information during exams, or cracking the Swiss economy).

We will miss his delicate manners, prize-worthy cocktails, ability to bring people together for a beer that felt like home, and the intentionality with which he cherished those around him, especially his parents Ana and Luis, his girlfriend Andrea, and why not, his cocktails.

Una luz menos en el mundo - en memoria de Jaime López Martínez “Pollito”

Nuestra luz, Jaime, se fue demasiado pronto, tenía solo 28 años. Queremos agradecer a MHAUS por darnos la oportunidad de recaudar fondos para impulsar la investigación y la concienciación sobre la HM. Deseamos que nadie tenga que conocer el dolor de perder a un ser querido por esta enfermedad. [Insertar enlace]

Quienes tuvimos la suerte de compartir un tramo (demasiado breve) de la vida con Jaime siempre recordaremos su cálida sonrisa, su capacidad para hacer que todo el mundo se sintiera querido y visto, y su increíble equilibrio (especialmente en pupitres/ sillas de cocina). Destacaba por su disposición inquebrantable para ayudar y para luchar por lo que consideraba justo (el tamaño de su valentía era tres veces el de su cuerpo).

Ningún reto era demasiado grande para Jaime, que siempre se lanzaba a probar nuevos deportes (apasionado jinete de Wallas, windsurfista, esquiador y ciclista, entre otros) y a ampliar sus horizontes para alcanzar sus metas (mudándose a Australia y a Suiza, terminando sus estudios en otro idioma), incluso de formas creativas (ingeniosos métodos para recordar información en los exámenes o para descifrar la economía suiza).

Echaremos de menos su delicadeza, sus cócteles dignos de premio, su capacidad para reunir a la gente alrededor de una cerveza que sabía a casa, y la intención con la que cuidaba a quienes tenía cerca, especialmente a sus padres, Ana y Luis, a su novia Andrea… y, ¿por qué no? también a sus cócteles.
