About the Concert
This event, featuring five organists, will be a treat for all and will benefit a great cause! We will be hosting a concert for The Geoff Keller Chapter Group of the Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States to raise money and build awareness about Malignant Hyperthermia (MHAUS). Geoff was the son of Rev. Curt Keller, Pastor of Forrest Hill UMC and passed away of the disease in September, 2012 at the age of 26. Dr. John Orfe, Joshua Hearn, James Marck, Walter Stout and Sherry Seckler will perform music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Marcel Dupré, Percy Whitlock, and others. A free-will offering will be collected to benefit MHAUS.

Malignant Hyperthermia is an inherited genetic disorder found in an estimated 1 out of 2,000 people. MH is triggered by certain anesthesia and most often experienced in individuals undergoing routine surgery, but in rare cases, MH can happen without anesthesia. Geoffrey Keller died of an awake trigger (outside of surgery) of malignant hyperthermia. The cause may never be known. Two research projects presented in 2014 showed that about 50 % of people brought in for "heat stroke" were actually having a malignant hyperthermia episode. Funds helping research MH can help save lives of those experiencing these awake triggers. For more information about MH go to MHAUS.org
