Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS) is a drug-induced disorder that is a rare and potentially fatal complication of treatment with antipsychotic drugs used for mental illnesses and other conditions. The defining features of NMS include fever, muscle rigidity, confusion and changes in heart rate, blood pressure and rate of breathing. Although NMS is rare, the widespread use of these drugs suggests that medical professionals need to be aware of it.
